Easy Miso Steak

Easy Miso Steak

Everyone loves a good piece of beef, but, when you fancy something a little different this Miso Steak never fails.  Moist and tasty, it pairs perfectly with some stir fried broccoli and a big spoonful of Kimchi (check out my easy Kimchi recipe).  For me, it’s a great treat for the kids, but, my kids do have some weird alien taste buds and they love everything healthy!

Miso is full of probiotics and can have positive effects on blood pressure, metabolism, and intestinal health.  So fill your boots and try this super easy recipe for dinner tonight, and you could be doing your health a favour as well as your taste buds.

Ingredients:

4 steaks of your choice (I like rump best)

1 tbsp. butter

Marinade:

50g Miso Paste

1 tbsp. Ancho Chilli Paste

2 tbsp. Brandy

Pinch of salt and pepper

Miso Cream Drizzle:

3 tbsp. double cream

1 tbsp. miso paste

1 tbsp. Ancho Chilli Paste

1 tbs. chilli sauce (I like Frank’s but Sriracha or any other will do too)

1 tsp. Rice Vinegar

Instructions:

  • Mix the marinade ingredients in a small bowl and mix
  • Massage into the steaks and leave covered in the fridge for at least an hour
  • When ready to cook the steaks, heat your frying pan on a high heat
  • Melt 1 tbsp butter and add a large pinch of salt
  • When butter starts to bubble, place the steaks in the pan
  • Fry for 4 minutes on each side (longer if your steaks are thick)
  • Place the steak on a plate to rest for 5-8 minutes
  • While resting meat, combine all of the drizzle ingredients in a small bowl
  • Using a fork and a sharp carving knife, cut the steak into strips
  • Arrange the steak on a serving platter and drizzle with the miso, chilli, cream mixture.

Enjoy this decadent steak with some fresh pan fried green vegetables.  The perfect dinner on a cold winter evening.
