Easy Lebanese Chilli Bean Balls (Baked)

I love Lebanese food but bean balls and falafel can sometimes be dry and boring.  These little powerhouses of health are full of flavour and you can make them as spicy or as mild as you like.  Baking the balls rather than frying them will also reduce the fat content.

The health benefits of consuming beans and legumes are massive.  They are high in fibre and full of minerals and vitamins including Foliate and magnesium which is beneficial to your bone health and maintaining a good metabolism.

Lebanese Chilli Bean Balls:


300g haricot beans

100g chickpeas

1-2 chillies

2 tsp ground cumin

2 ground coriander

5 garlic cloves

3 shallots

1 tbsp tomato puree

Salt and pepper


  • Pre-heat oven to 220C
  • Roughly chop the chillies and garlic and place all of the ingredients in a food processor with a pinch of salt and pepper.
  • Blitz until almost smooth (i like to leave a few chunks)
  • Make golf ball size chunks with your hands and lay on a non-stick baking tray and bake in the hot oven for 15-18 minutes.
  • I like to serve on a bed or rocket with a grating of parmesan and s splash of balsamic dressing.
